Two New Diterpenoids from the Roots of Schnabelia tetradonta

Two new 17(15→16)-abeo-20-nor-abietane diterpenoids, named schnabelolides A and B, were isolated from the ethanol extract of the roots of Schnabelia tetradonta (Lamiaceae), a Chinese endemic herb, through repeated column chromatographies. Their structures were elucidated as 17(15→16)-abeo-20-nor-abieta-12,16-epoxy-7,17-dihydroxy-5(10),6,8,12,15-pentaen-11,14-dion-18(1)-olide (1) and 17(15→16)-abeo-20-nor-abieta-12,16-epoxy-7-hydroxy-5(10),6,8,12,15-pentaen-11,14-dion-18(1)-olide (2) on the basis of spectroscopic evidence.
