Synthesis of some monosubstituted dibenzo-18-crown-6

Abstract

The syntheses of dibenzo-18-crown-6 derivatives containing formyl, butoxycarbonyl, hydroxymethyl, and carboxy substituents in the 4'-position are described. The reaction of b,b-dichloroethyl ether with catechol gives 1,2-bis[2'-(2''-chloroethoxy)ethoxy]benzene in the presence of polyethylene glycol.
