Abstract

Besides addition product 2-halo-substituted dichloromethylenecyclohexane byproducts were produced from the reactions of the titled compound (I) with chlorine and bromine. Attempt to prepare the compound 1-trichloromethylcyclohexene by a series of elimination reactions was unsuccessful. The axial conformer of 2-substituted dichloromethylenecyclohexane has been observed, which was interpreted in terms of anomeric effect.
