10 novel asymmetric phosphonate derivatives containing substituted pyridyl were synthesized via the Michaelis-Becker reactions of 2-chloro-5-chloromethylpyridine and cyclic phosphites or dialkyl phosphites. The stereochemistry of the Michaelis-Becker reactions of cyclic phosphites is described. The preliminary biological activity tests show that the title compounds have hardly insectical activities, while most of the compounds have good fungicidal activities.
