Visible Light-Mediated Iridium-Catalyzed Debromocyclization of Aliphatic α-Bromotrifluoromethyl Groups

Tetralin and trifluoromethyl are common structural units in medicinal chemistry. A method for the synthesis of trifluoromethyltetralin and its analogs was developed. The method using α-trifluoromethyl bromide as the raw material is obtained by debromination cyclization reaction mediated by visible light with Ir(ppy)3 as photocatalyst, which has the advantages of relatively mild reaction conditions, good functional group compatibility and good chemoselectivity.
