作者前曾由中药木通中提出一种酸性含氮化合物,经元素分析及分子量测定结果,暂定其分子式为C12H11NO+,熔点281—282°。其化学及物理性质与作者前研究国产木防已甲素,熔点280—281°,C32H24N2O12(13)(或C16H12NO6(7)),及土青木香丙素,熔点278—280°,C33H23NO14,有些相似。当时因原植物不明,所得金黄色棒状结晶,暂名木通甲素。前精制甲素时仅用甲醇及丙酮交互重结晶,未用硷、酸及二甲基甲酰胺处理,含不纯物,所以有更正及补充必要,并进行铿定之。

"Mu-Tongnen A", m.p.275-2760 with decomposition, previously isolated from the Chinese drug "Mu-Tong", was found to have the correct molecular formula of C17H11NO7 and was identified as aristolochic acid.
