Preparation and Electrochemistry Properties of Multilayer Films Constructed from Copper Substituted Polyoxometalate and PAMAM

The novel multilayer nano-composite films constructed from copper mono-substituted polyoxometalates ([PCu(H2O)Mo11O39]5-) and a generation-4 poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM) were fabricated on ITO conductive glass and glassy carbon electrode by electrochemical scanning method. The composition of the multilayer films was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectra. Atomic force microscopy presented an uniform surface morphology of the multilayer films. The multilayer films were grown gradually and uniformly in the synthesis process as monitored by cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical properties of [PCu(H2O)Mo11O39]5- in the films were different from those in homogeneous aqueous solution. The multilayer films showed good electrocatalytic activity towards the reduction of and oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA).
