Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Supramolecular Complex of Zn( Ⅱ ) Bridged by Phthalate

Novel supramolecular complex {[Zn2(phen)2(phth)2(H2O)2]·2H2O}n (phen=phenanthroline; phth=phthalate) has been synthesized by the reaction of phen and phth with zinc(Ⅱ) salt.Elemental analysis, IR spectra and X-ray crystal structure analysis were carried out to determine the composition and crystal structure of title complex.The title complex belongs to monoclinic system with space group P2(1)/n, a=0.9643(3) nm, b=0.8976(3) nm, c=2.1410(7) nm, β=90.776(5)°, Z=4, V=1.8531(10) nm3, Dc=1.598 g/cm3, μ=1.367 mm-1, F(000)=912, R1=0.0409, wR2=0.0818, and the zinc atom rendered five-coordinate in a distorted trigonal bipyramidal configuration.The complex formed 1-D helix chain bridged by phth and 2-D network structure by π-π action of neighbouring helix chain.
