Studies on the acylthiosemicarbazides and the related heterocyclic compounds XII: Synthesis of 1-(α-phenylcyanoacetylamino)-3-aroylthiourea and 3-(α-phenylcyanomethyl)-4-4-aroyl-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol derivatives

Refluxing PhCH(CN)CONHNH2 with RCONCS [R = (un)substituted Ph, a-naphthyl, 2-thienyl, PhCH:CH] in MeCN gave 65.3-97.6% PhCH(CN)CONHNHC(S)NHCOR (I), cyclization of which with aqueous NaOH gave 61.2-96.4% triazolethiols III. I (R = 2-O2NC6H4) showed strong promoting activity on the growth of plumule of wheat at 10-3-10-1 ppm.
