The study of knoevenagel condensation and solvent effect without catalyst

The Knoevenagel condensation of armatic aldehydes and malononitrile or cyanacetic ester is carried out by DMF as solvent without catalyst. The process gives high yields of products. The factors of influencing solvent effect are discussed.
