The photodecompn. of solid uranyl formate and basic uranyl formate was investigated by using the TEA-CO2 laser. The characteristics of the photodecompn. reactions were similar to those which occurred in the multiphoton photodissocn. in gases, and the reactions were nonthermal ones in nature. A mechanism for the laser induced-reaction is proposed.
