The effect of reaction temperature and trioxane on the structure of condensation products of furfuryl alcohol (I) obtained in H2SO4 was studied by 13C-NMR. Phase-transfer crosslinking reaction between I and HCHO took place in the presence of Bu4N+I- catalyst. Condensation polymerisation of I was the major reaction at low H2SO4 concentration, while the formation of aldehydes and ketones by ring-opening reaction of I was observed besides condensation polymerisation at high H2SO4 concentration NMR spectra indicated that I polymer was oxidized at 200? The NMR spectra of I-tris(2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate copolymer were given.
