Preparation and Properties for Solid Solution Ce1-xEuxO2-δ(x=0.05~0.5) Prepared by Sol-gel Method

In this paper, a systematic study of solid solutions Ce1-xEuxO2-δ (x=0.05~0.5) prepared at 800℃ by sol-gel method is presented. The structure, valence characteristics and transport properties for these solid solutions are determined and discussed by XRD, XPS, Raman, and impedance spectra. XPS analysis suggested the presence of Eu+ and major Ce4+ ions in the Ce1-xEuxO2-δ solid solutions. The impedance spectra of the solid solutions showed that the conductivity was increased greatly by doping lower valence ions. Ce0.8Eu0.2O2-δ solid solution possessed a maximum conductivity. At 600℃, the conductivity and activition energy were 2.87×10-3S·cm-1 and 0.72 eV, respectively.
