Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Electrochemical Property of a One- dimensional Chain Pb(II) Coordination Polymer Constructed from 3-Ferrocenylcrotonic Anion and 1,10-Phenanthroline

A novel coordination polymer [Pb(m-OOCCH=C(CH3)Fc)(m2-OOCCH=C(CH3)Fc)(phen)]n (Fc=(h5-C5H5)Fe(h5-C5H4); phen=1,10-phenanthroline) was obtained by the reaction of Pb(OAc)2•3H2O with NaOOCCH=C(CH3)Fc and phen in methanol solution. X-ray structural analysis reveals that each Pb(II) ion in the compound is in a six-coordinated geometry in which four oxygen atoms come from four Fc(CH3)C=CHCOO units, and two nitrogen atoms from the phen ligand. In its solid-state structure, Fc(CH3)C=CHCOO anion acts as m-mode or m2-mode bridging the central Pb(II) ions and thus forming a 1-D chain. The cyclic voltammetries of the title compound and the corresponding ferrocenyl ligand were investigated in DMF solution.
