Synthesis and crystal structure of the azido dinuclear copper(II) cryptates of macrocyclic ligands [Cu~2(N~3)~2(C~1~6H~3~8N~6)](ClO~4) ~2

This paper deals with the synthesis and crystal structure of the azido dicopper(II) macrocyclic complex, the macrocyclic cryptand C~1~6H~3~8N~6 is 1, 4, 7, 12, 15, 18-hexaazacyclodocosane. The compound [Cu~2(N~3)~2(C~1~6H~3~8N~6)](ClO~4)~2 crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group C~i^1-P1, with a=17.669(10), b=13.355(5) , c=6.414(3)︿; α=103.85(4), β=100.40(4), γ=71.30(3)ⅲ and Z=2. In the [Cu~2(N~3)~2(C~1~6H~3~8N~6)]^2^+ unit, the two copper cations are tetracoordinate CuN~4 centers, with square geometry, involving thre ring nitrogens and one terminally bound azide ions. There is no longer an azido bridge between the two copper atoms, which are 5.123 (4)︿ appart. The macrocycle is in a chair-type conformation.
