Studies on synthesis, characterization and electrical conductivity of the complexes of 3d transition metal with 2-oxo-propionic acid (4-pyridinecarbonyl)hydrazone

Six transition metal complexes of 2-oxo-propionic acid (4-pyridinecarbonyl) hydrazone (H2PPFH) and the single crystal of a manganese complex have been prepared in this thesis. the structure and properties of these complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV spectra, differential thermal analyses(DTA)and thermogravimetry (TG).A general formula for these complexes is M(PPFH).nH2O([M(II)=Mn.Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, n=0~2].The structure of the manganese complex was determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis. the results whow that the crystal of the complex is monoclinic, of space group P21/n, with a=1.1252, b=0.9828, c=1.3708nm, β=66.03°, R=0.028. Besides , the electrical conductivities of six complexes were measured and their semiconductor-like behavior was discussed.
