Synthesis and Biological Activities of 4,5-Dihydro-3-methyl-4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione Schiff Bases

Thiocarbazide was reacted with acetic acid to prepare 4,5-dihydro-3-methyl-4-amino-1,2, 4-triazole-5-thione. Then eight Schiff bases were synthesized using this 1,2,4-triazole-5-thione and substituted aromatic aldehydes as starting materials, with acetic acid as a catalyst and solvent. The structures of all the compounds have been confirmed by 1H NMR, IR and elemental analysis. Their biological activities to several vegetable pathogens have been tested and the results showed that they exhibited good fungicidal activities.
