2,7'-(Ethylene)-bis-8-hydroxyquinoline was synthesized and characterized by IR, UV, ¹H NMR, MS and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of the title compound was determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The fluorescence spectrum of this compound was determined. The experimental results show that the crystal belongs to triclinic, space group P-1 with unit cell parameters a＝0.7473(10) nm, b＝0.8323(11) nm, c＝1.3124(17) nm, α＝102.054(2)°, β＝95.030(2)°, γ＝109.753(2)°, V＝0.7401(17) nm³, Z＝2, D_c＝1.410 Mg/m³, μ＝0.093 mm^－1, F(000)＝328, R₁＝0.0427 and wR₂＝0.1122.
