The synthesis, structure characterization and antibacterial activity of Schiff base condensed from PMBP and o-chloroaniline, m-chloroaniline, p-chloroaniline and 2,4-dichloroaniline and their complexes are reported now. The calculation of the quantum chemistry shows the reaction mechanism of the condensation reaction. The antibacterial activity tests indicate that the ligands L1~L4 and their complexes Y1~Y10 have good antibacterial activities against E.coli and S.aureus, in which the Co(Ⅱ) complex is the best.
