Acetalization Catalyzed by Reusable N-Methylimidazole Trifluoromethyl Sulfonate

A number of aldehydes and ketones are effectively converted to acetals in the presence of N-methylimidazole trifluoromethyl sulfonate. The catalyst can be readily recovered through filtration and reused with high activity.
