Studies on organophosphorus compounds XXV: Synthesis of α -aminophosphonic acids by reaction of N,N-substituted alkylene-biscarboxamides with triphenyl phosphite

Abstract

A novel method for the synthesis of a-aminophosphonic acids based on the reaction of tri-Ph phosphite on sym. N,N'-alkylenebiscarboxamide or N-hydroxycarboxamide followed by subsequent hydrolysis was reported. Based on the experimental observations, a tentative reaction mechanism involving an electrophilic attack by biscarboxamide on the trivalent phosphorus was suggested.
