Abstract

Hydroboration-chromic acid oxidation of 13b-ethyl-3-methoxygona-1,3,5(10),9(11)-tetraen-17b-ol gave 13b-ethyl-3-methoxygona-1,3,5(10),6,8-pentaen-17-one, dione I (Z = O), alcohol I (Z = H, OH), and boronic acid I [Z = B(OH)2]. The reaction mechanism was discussed.
