Seven organic compounds have been isolated from the soft coral Sarcophyton molle collected from South China Sea. Their chemical structures have been identified by UV, IR, MS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR as isoneocembrene (1), (E, E, E)-7, 8-epoxy-1-isopropyl-4, 8, 12-trimethyl-cyclotetradeca-1, 3, 11-triene(2), stearic acid (3), batyl alcohol (4), sinumeramide (5), thymine(6) and thymidine (7). Compound (2) is a new compound. It is the first report about the chemical constituents of the soft coral Sarcophyton molle.
Key words: SINUMERAMIDE, CHEMICAL COMPOSITION, C13 NMR SPECTROMETRY, TRIENE, OCTADECOIC ACID (=OCTADECYLIC ACID), NMR SPECTROMETRY, SOFT CORAL, THYMINE, MASS SPECTROGRAPHY, ULTRAVIOLET SPECTROPHOTOMETRY
