The reactions of bis-cyclic polyhydroxy quinonoid compound, β,β- dimethylacrylalkannin, with secondary amines, and the oxidative-Michael addition of tris-cyclic polyhydroxy quinonoid compound, alizarin with nucleophiles,have been investigated. These results are useful for interpreting the biological functions of natural polyhydroxy quinonoid compounds.
