Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Triphenyltin N-(5-Chlorosalicylidene)-α-amino Carboxylates

Triphenyltin salts of N-(5-chlorosalicylidene)-α-amino acid 16 were synthesized by the reaction of triphenyltin chloride with in situ formed Schiff base, potassium salt of N-(5-chlorosalicylidene)- α-amino acid, and characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectra. The crystal structures of triphenyltin N-(5-chlorosalicylidene)valinate (3) and triphenyltin N-(5-chlorosalicylidene)-isoleucinate (5) were reported. The X-ray structures reveal that the tin atom is five-coordinated and adopts a polymeric trans-O2SnC3 trigonal bipyramidal configuration with the axial positions occupied by a carboxylate oxygen from the ligand and the phenolic oxygen of the ligand in an adjacent complex.
