Synthesis of crown ether compounds XI: Studies on synthesis and characterization of ferrocenoylpolythia(oxa)-crown ethers

Abstract

Eight new ligands of ferrocenylpolythia(oxa)crown ethers: 2-ferrocenyl-1,3-dithia-8-crown-3, 2-ferrocenyl-1,3-dithia-11-crown-4, 2-ferrocenyl-1,3-dithia-14-crown-5, 2-ferrocenyl-1,3-dithia-17-crown-6, 2-ferrocenyl-1,3-dithia-20-crown-7, 2-ferrocenyl-1,3,6-trithia-8-crown-3, 2-ferrocenoyl-1,3.9-trithia-14-crown-5, and 2-ferrocenyl-1,3-dithia-4,5-dihydroxyl-7-crown-2 have been synthesized by the reaction of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde with dimercaptans in the presence of BF3.Et2O and a small amount of hydroquinone.
