Recent progress in the formation of macrolactams

Abstract

A review with 50 refs. on recent progress in the formation of macrolactams. A novel approach for the preparation of polyamine macrolactam has been achieved via the intramol. ring opening of the b-lactam ring as a means of introducing an a-aminopropionic acid residue. A metal template-driven extrusion process may be the most promising method for the double activation of seco-amino acid and macrolactamization in the future.c
