The syntheses of bis[N,N'-ethylene-2,2'-(phenylmethylene)bis(3,4- dimethyl pyrrole-5-aldimino)]monometallic complexes MH~2L[M=Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ)Cl, Cr(Ⅲ)Cl, Cu(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ)] were first described. Their spectral characters and configurations were also discussed. The monometallic complexes were preapred by the reaction of ethylenediamine with another series of Schiff base mononuclear complexes, derived by the reaction of the appropriate metal salts with a Schiff base ligand. The Schiff base ligand was prepared from the [1+2] condensation of ethylenediamine with 2,2'-(phenylmethylene) bis(3,4-dimethylpyrrole-5-carboxy- aldehyde).
