Abstract

Twenty two 2-(substituted phenyliminomethylene)indole derivatives were synthesized via nucleophilic addition reaction of indole-2- formaldehyde with different substituted anilines. The structures of these derivatives were confirmed by ^1H NMR and MS data. Two special clevage patlerns in the formation of the specific fragment ions in the MS of 2-(substituted phenyliminomethylene) indoles are discussed in detail.
