Abstract

Reaction of ketones with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tribromide ([Bmim]Br₃) under solvent-free conditions at room temperature, selectively gave the corre-sponding α-bromoketones with 90%～96% yields. Compared to the known report, this method has the advantages of mild reaction condition, good yields, high selectivity and more environmental benignity.
