About the Cover:A novel electrochemical synthetic system for β-keto sulfonyl fluorides has been successfully developed by Feng, He, Li, Li, and Huang on page 3885. β-Keto sul-fonyl fluorides were synthesized using vinyl acetate and sulfuryl chlorofluoride under electrochemical conditions. The electroreductive strategy requires neither sacrificial electrodes nor metal catalysts, thus featuring mild conditions and a wide substrate scope, which enables the synthesis of various β-keto sulfonyl fluorides from sim-ple ketone feedstocks. Moreover, this transformation can be performed in a continuous flow reactor -
About the Cover:A direct nitration of tertiary enamide with tert-butyl nitrite (tBuONO) under metal-free conditions is disclosed by Liu, Xu, Wang, Liu, Chen, and Sun on page 3903. A wide array of cyclic and acyclic enamides was nitrated with commercially available nonmetallic reagents, which produced diverse valuable β-acylamino nitroalkenes in excellent yields. Furthermore, this protocol is operationally simple and exhibits broad substrate scope and good functional group compatibility. -
About the Cover:The recent progress in radical arylation reaction with diaryliodonium salts is reviewed by Zhu, Jiao, Wei, Chen, and Mo on page 3672. Radical arylations induced by visible light or without photocatalysis were used to the construction of carbon-carbon and carbon-hetero- atom bonds, and successfully applied in the synthesis of arylated bioactive compounds. -
About the Cover:Atropisomeric phosphines are crucial to asymmetric catalysis yet challenging to synthesize. An N-hetero-cyclic carbene catalyzed reaction between dialdehydes and arylboronic acids is reported by Huang, Lin, Li, Zhang, Wang, Gao, Gong, Li, and Liu on page 3847. Mechanistic studies have revealed that the reaction initially undergoes a desymmetrization process, followed by a kinetic resolution pathway, affording a series of axially chiral phosphorus compounds with high enantio- selectivity.
