Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Novel Acylthiourea Metal Cluster

The title compound [Cu6(HL)6] (HL=N-ethoxycarbonyl-N'-(4-fluorophenyl)-thiourea) was synthesized from L and Cu(NO3)2•3H2O in ethanol, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis with its crystal structure determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The crystal of compound belongs to triclinic system with space group and parameters: a=1.2508(11) nm, b=1.3011(11) nm, c=1.4686(12) nm, α=102.401(14)°, β=97.859(2)°, γ=114.700(13)°, V=2.051(3) nm3, Z=1, Dc=1.687 Mg/m3. The title compund is a cage shaped metal cluster consisting of six copper(II) and six thiourea ligands.
