Synthesis of Optically Active Chiral Cyclic Guanidine Derivative

The optically active chiral bicyclic guanidinium chloride, 4S,8S-bis(hydroxymethyl)-1,5,7-tri- azabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene hydrochloride was synthesized in ten steps from L-asparagine with a total yield of 2.2%. This pathway aviod usage of virulent thiophosgene and horrible smell organic sulfid.
