Controlled Synthesis and Properties of CdS Quasi-nanospheres with Artificial Active Membrane as Template

Quasi-nanospheres of CdS were successfully synthesized with artificial active membrane of collodion as template. The results indicated that regular CdS quasi-nanospheres, which had a cubic zinc- blende structure with a cell constant a = 0.5818 nm, could be formed with 0.1 mol/L CdCl2 and 0.1 mol/L Na2S as reactants at room temperature. The sphere diameter range was from 80 to 280 nm, and the average diameter was about 170 nm. When the exciting wavelength was 390 nm, two emission peaks at 480 nm with blue light and at 535 nm with green light appeared. The UV-vis spectrum showed a wider absoiption peak at 475 nm, and had 40 nm blue-shift compared with bulky materials, indicating that the particles had obvious quantum size effect. In addition, the reaction mechanism has primarily been explored.
