Fabrication of Photoluminescent Ultra-thin Film by Using CdS-ZnS Core-shell Structure Quantum Dot/PAMAM Dendrimer Nanocomposites

CdS-ZnS core-shell structure quantum dot/PAMAM dendrimer nanocomposites with negative charges on the dendrimers surface were prepared, and a novel self-assembly PL ultra-thin film was then fabricated with these nanocomposites as polyanions and poly dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride (PDDA) as polycations. The uniformity, smoothness and the PL property of the film were characterized. The UV-Vis absorbance and PL intensity of the film showed linear increment with the increase of layer number, suggesting the growth of every layer is quite uniform; AFM images showed that one bilayer film was very smooth, and the 10-bilayer film was still smooth. Furthermore, the 10 bilayer film emitted bright blue-green light.
