This paper reviews the recent progress in the synthesis of cyclopropane amino acids. General approaches involve the nucleophilic cycloalkylation, carbenoids addition of certain amino acid derivatives and derivatization from simple cyclopropane compounds. Chiral synthesis can be achieved by taking advantage of natural or synthetic optically active compounds.
