MnIV(m-O2CC6H4NH2)(TPP)(OIPh) (I, H2TPP = tetraphenylpropphyrin) was prepared by the oxidation of MnIII(m-O2CC6H4NH2)(TPP) in CH2Cl2 with iodosylbenzene. The visible absorption spectrum of I has an intense Soret band at 422 nm and a broad shoulder band at 522 nm. The IR spectrum has an intense absorption band at 580 cm-1 which is assigned to a Mn-O-O stretch and an absorption band at 1630 cm-1 which is assigned to the asym. stretching vibrations of carboxylate group. The ESR spectrum has a broad absorption band at g = 2.00 and an intense absorption band at ge^ = 3.26.
