Abstract

The cis and trans-2-amino-3-cyano-4-phenyl-1-(4'-methylphenyl)-2cyclopentene-1-ols were synthesized by reaction of low-valent titanium reagent (TiCl4-Zn) with 4, 4-dicyano-3-phenyl-1-(4'-methylphenyl)-1-butanone. Their configurations were determined by X-ray analysis.
