[Pd(phen)(trp)]Cl·5H_2O and [Pd(5-NO_2phen)(trp)]Cl·5H_2O have been synthesized (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, 5-NO_2phen = 5-nitro-1, 10-phenanthroline, trp = L-tryptophan). The compounds display anti- cancer activity to lung cancer cell AGZY-83a with IC_(50) of 158.5 μ g/mL and >293.0% μg/mL respectively. The binding constants of the compounds with sperm DNA are determined by fluorescence analysis, which are 6.36 * 10~6 and 3.64 * 10~6 respectively. Intercalation of the compounds with DNA can be demonstrated by fluorescence spectra, UV- spectra and viscometer.
