Synthesis and Characterization of a Novel Intergrowth Zeolite T-L

A novel type of zeolite was synthesized in the system of Na2O-K2O-Al2O3-SiO2-H2O. The zeolite (called zeolite T-L) was the intergrowth of zeolite T and zeolite L, and zeolite L grew on one end of zeolite T particle. The shape of zeolite T-L is rivet-like. The channels of zeolite L, which are perpendicular to the plane of crystals of zeolite L, can be clearly seen in TEM photographs. The Si/Al ratio of the framework of zeolite T is larger than that of zeolite L, i.e. Si/Al=3.71 in zeolite T and Si/Al=3.41 in zeolite L. There is more B-acid than L-acid in the sample.
