La-doped Sr ferrite powders (Sr1-xLaxFe11.5Ni0.5O19, x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) and their polypyrrole composites PPY/Sr0.8La0.2Fe11.5Ni0.5O19 with 60% and 80% pyrrole were prepared by a sol-gel method and an in situ polymerization method, respectively. The structure, morphologies and magnetic properties of the samples were characterized by means of powder X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The results indicate that the cover layer of PPY has an affection on the magnetic property and morphology of the composites. The magnetization of the composites decreased with increasing of pyrrole contents under the applied magnetic field. When pyrrole contents equal to 0%, 60% and 80%, corresponding MS are 59.4, 18.7 and 10.3 emu/g, respectively.
