One-Pot Synthesis of 2-Amino-4-phenyl-6-(phenylsulfanyl)-3,5-dicyanopyridines in Ionic Liquids

The one-pot reaction of aldehydes, malononitrile and thiols was investigated in different medium. It was found that in ionic liquid [bmim]BF₄ this reaction could be finished in short time and gave the product 2-amino-4-phenyl-6-(phenylsulfanyl)- 3,5-dicyanopyridines in high yields without byproduct. This method has some distinct advantages such as mild reaction conditions, high yields and selectivity, environmental friendliness. Moreover, the ionic liquid could be recovered conveniently and reused.
