Recent advances in electrochemical fluorination

Electrochemical fluorination (ECF) is an important means for the introduction of fluorine atom into orgainc or inorganic substractes by electrolytic reaction. For orgainc compounds, two kinds of ECF methdo have been developed. One involves electrolysis in anhydrous HF on Ni to give perfluorinated materials. This method was invented by simons in 1941 and modified greatly in recent years. Another involves fluorinating at Pt in organic solvent(e.g.MeCN containing Et3N.3HF) and yielding mostly monofluorinated derivatives. Such method was realized by Rozhkov in 1970. Our review deals with information concerning both methdos with special emphasis on the recent developments.
