Soluble, 1, 8, 15, 22- and 2, 9, 16, 23-tetraalkylamide vanadyl phthalocyanines (1 and 2) were synthesized and their spectrum properties were investigated. The two phthalocyanine compounds exist in different forms in solutions and PMMA films. It was also found that the Q band of 1 has a bathochromic shift of 47nm relative to that of 2, therefore it may provide a new way for shifting the Q bands of phthalocyanines bathochromically by substitution pattern similar to 1.
