Development in the research of bridged calix[6]arenes

Bridged calix[6]arenes, which have the advandge of preorganizing the calixarene conformations suit-able for molecular recognition, are becoming one of the latest central interests in calixarene chemistry. This paper reviews the research progress of bridged calix[6]arenes, including their preparations, conformation immobilization and spectral characteristics, molecular recognition ability, applications in the field of synthetic organic chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. Several types of important members in this family, such as rigid-spacer-briged calix[6]arenes, calix[6]crowns, and calix[6] cryptands are highlighted in detail.
