Synthesis of β-Arylthioethers of Propionic Acid and Thiochromanones under Microwave Irradiation

Abstract

Under microwave irradiation, a series of β-arylthioethers of propionic acid were prepared by ca-talysis of KI/PEG-600. The corresponding thiochromanones were synthesized from β-arylthioethers of propionic acid under microwave irradiation in the presence of polyphosphoric acid. Their structures were confirmed by IR, ¹H NMR, MS spectra and elemental analysis. The advantages of the procedure were short reaction time, high yield and simple work up.
