This paper describes a new method of synthesizing platinum complex Pt(P(C6H5)3)2Cl2 from K2PtCl6 and P(C6H5)3 directly. The product have been identified by elemental analysis, physical constants determination, IR and mass spectra. By isolation and identification of the by-product (C6H5)3PO, it is shown that triphenylphosphine acts as the ligand and also the reducing agent in the reaction.
