Hydroboration of 1,7-octadien-3-ol by 9-borabicyclo (3.3.1)nonane

1,7-Octadien-3-ol was reduced by 9-borabicyclo(3.3.1)nonane as hydroboration reagent. The locoselectivity of hydroboration of 1,7- octadien-3-ol by 9-BBN was very low. In addition to 1-octen-3-ol (47%), and 7-octen-3-ol (41%), octanol-3(12%) was also produced.
