Synthesis and Photochromic Property of Three Novel Calix[4]arene-Schiff Bases

Three novel Schiff-bases carrying calix[4]arene and the model compounds without calix[4]arene moieties have been synthesized. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MALDI-TOF MS and elemental analysis. The calix[4]arene-Schiff bases have photochromic behaviors. Calix[4]arene moieties, substituent OCH3 and solvent CH2Cl2 could effectively improve the photochromic properties of these Schiff-bases.
