Abstract

Two new polyhydroxysteroids have been isolated from Chromonephthea sp. collected from Naozhou Islands of the South China Sea. Their structures were established as 24-methylcholest-5-en- 3β,12β,16β,20-tetraol (1) and 24-ethylcholest-5-en-3β,12β,16β,20-tetraol (2) by MS, IR, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR (DEPT), HSQC, HMBC and NOE techniques. Both of them are previously unknown compounds and showed weak cytotoxicity against the cancer cell lines.
